My boyfriend turned 28 about ohh... a week and a half ago now.
Here he is modeling his brand new birthday hat that I made for him...
He loves Argyle. It's even his online personality. :)
This hat took weeks of planning and secret knitting, and hiding of yarn and patterns, and what did I find out the day before his birthday?! It was TINY... it didn't even fit me and I have a tiny head, like child size... this is a little girls hat that I'm wearing... So what did I do? I ripped it out and designed a new pattern and knit an entire new hat in just under a day so that he could still have a birthday hat. Am I a good girlfriend or what?
Yes, I am turning into a giant knitting geek. I can't get enough of it. And so, my friend Cami and I made our way to the 1st Annual Great Basin Fiber Arts Fair this weekend to see what they had to offer.
I've tried to keep my projects over the summer small. I knew that I would have less time over our hectic summer schedule to dedicate to knitting so I chose small portable projects... Also, who wants a big wool sweater in your lap when it's 105°?
I finished these over our roadtrip to washington.
And just a few days ago I finished this scarf for my mom's birthday that is coming up... I think it turned out great and I hope she likes it!
...also, how grandma is my new page layout?? haha... I love it though... do you hate it?
For some reason I got an inkling to sew this weekend...
( crafty goodness under here )
I wasn't sure if I should felt the kittybed since she enjoyed it so much unfelted haha... but finally I decided that yes, this was to be my first attempt at felting. And she still likes it yay!

My grandma (bless her) keeps telling me that she has to give me all her
yarn and all her needles before she dies (!) so that I can keep the
craft going or whatever. She just turned 80 and both her and my grandpa
have been just giving away all their stuff... it's crazy. So I love her
and I want to show her that I appreciate this and all, and make
something lovely with it... the problem is that most of the yarn she
gives me is just ugly or not something that I would pick out y'know?
Well last night, after the thanksgiving meal my grandma brings out this
huge bag of yarn... yellow, 10 skeins of sport weight, acrylic,
yellow... What to do? baby sweaters? haha... there are no babies tho
hmm... I found this pattern
on knitty for the arisaig cardigan which I think is gorgeous... and the
yarn is the right weight... but do I really want to make that cardigan
in yellow? I like yellow, I look good in it... I dunno... any ideas??
I've been knitting this bed
for my kitty and I finally finished it last night! Well, the knitting
part, I haven't gotten to the felting yet but apparently the kitty has
already decided it's hers because when I came back into the living room
this is what I found:
